Rhythm and Sequence
Rhythm and Sequence is a study of music notation and other forms of sonic representation, which is transferred into woven fabric. It is a tangible and visual illustration of music.
Researching repetitive structures and sequential patterns that can be interpreted and read the same way we comprehend language, I discovered that sound frequencies closely relate to my study on pattern itself.
The project explores music compositions along with the corresponding sound frequencies and alanalyses their visual form.
It transforms sound and transposes it onto fabric using weave structures that simulate sound waves. By employing digital sound and introducing elements like video art within this research, I created a multilayered, interdisciplinary installation which articulates the rhythm of the fabric and the sequence of the music.
